In Florida, bicyclists have the same rights to the roadways as all motorized vehicles and must obey all traffic laws. When a bicyclist is involved in an accident with a motorized vehicle, the bicyclist has the right to use their personal injury protection (PIP) benefits from their personal automobile insurance policy to receive medical treatment for their injuries as a result of that accident. A bicyclist also has the right to use the uninsured/underinsured motorist (UM) coverage found under their personal automobile insurance policy in case when applicable.
